In June 2007 it was announced by the Education and Skills Secretary that the City Challenge project would be rolled out to the Black Country and Greater Manchester. Jim Knight is the Minister for the Black Country and he will be working with local partners to drive the agenda forward. Sir Geoff Hampton has been appointed as Chief Adviser for the Black Country Challenge. The Black Country Challenge will officially be launched by Minister Jim Knight on 7th May 2008.

This August the Black Country Challenge will be at a venue near you with lots of information and advice on how to help your child at school. It will have leaflets for parents to take home detailing the sort of everyday activities they can do with their child to help them grow in confidence as well as get to grips with reading, writing and mathematics.
The road show can be found on the following dates:
16th August 2008 - The Mander Centre, Wolverhampton
23rd August 2008 - The Merry Hill Centre, Dudley
24th August 2008 - The Sandwell Show, Sandwell
30th August 2008 - The Saddlers Centre, Walsall
